JOB DESCRIPTION

ACTIVITY LEADER

The Social Activities Director is responsible for Planning Social Programs to carry out the objectives of Crescent Villa/ Canyon House as part of the total Resident care, providing supervision and protection of Residents during the activities and complying with safety regulations and policies.  S/he uses care in the use of equipment and supplies and maintains adequate records as directed by the Administrator.

GENERAL DUTIES:

  1. Plan, organize, and direct a program of activities which will provide entertainment, inter-communication, socialization, exercise, relaxation, an opportunity to express creative talent, and fulfill basic psychological, social and spiritual needs and make them available to all Residents.
  2. Initiate and promote activities both within the facility and outside the facility to stimulate and promote Residents' interest and general well-being.
  3. Encourage hobbies and provide materials and supplies. Encourage craft activities among Residents both in-groups and individually.
  4. Encourage social communications among Residents through group activities and recreation.
  5. Encourage Residents to participate in religious activities to fulfill their basic spiritual needs.
  6. Encourage intellectual development through reading literature, lectures, movies, cultural events, etc.
  7. May write letters for Residents, run errands, may assist in appointments etc.
  8. May act as liaison with Residents' families.
  9. Maintain records of Resident activities and progress.
  10. Requisition and may purchase supplies, equipment and materials to carry out Social Activities program. Maintain inventory records.
  11. Perform other duties as requested by the Administrator not listed above.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

CAREGIVER

The Caregivers are the back bone of the Quality of Service provided to the Residents. They provide individual care starting from waking up the Residents, giving showers, grooming, taking for dining, activities, providing medication, answering calls and assisting them back to beds at night. They must have the natural personality to feel empathy and consideration for old age and the demands associated with it. Caregivers must have first aid certificates.

GENERAL DUTIES

  1. Answer call-lights promptly.
  2. Shower/Bathe Residents according to the shower schedule and as directed by the Administrator or as requested by the Resident or the family. Give shampoos routinely.
  3. Assist Residents in dressing and undressing.
  4. Provide care for Residents' mouth and teeth.
  5. Comb and arrange hair of Residents.
  6. Hang or fold Residents' clothing.
  7. Assist with bedpan or urinals.
  8. Clean and store equipment.

MEDICATION

  1. Set up and administer medication. Must ensure no unattended medication anywhere in the Facility.
  2. Document medication/s taken accurately and up to date at all times.
  3. Notify Administrator of low stock of any medication.
  4. Keep Nurses Notes accurate and up to date.

RESIDENTS ROOMS

  1. Keep clean and in neat order.
  2. Keep beds made up at all times.
  3. Keep rooms free of smell at all times.

DINING ROOM

  1. Clean chairs.
  2. Clear and clean tables.
  3. Change tablecloths, if needed, and reset tables.
  4. Assist in kitchen clean up as directed or needed.

RESIDENT DINING

  1. Serve Residents during meal times.
  2. Assist Residents in eating as requested by Resident or Administrator.
  3. Clear entree before serving dessert, when the Resident requests dessert.

ACTIVITIES

  1. Assist Residents to activities and to perform activities.
  2. Conduct activities for Residents as and when requested by the Administrator.

LAUNDRY

  1. Assist housekeeper with laundry as directed or needed.
  2. Assist as necessary with any other duties that will provide the best possible care to the Residents of Crescent Villa/ Canyon House, which may not be listed in this job description.

Caregivers are responsible to the Administrator and to the Assistant Administrator in the absence of the Administrator.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

COOK

The Cook is responsible for preparing, seasoning and cooking meat, fish, fowl, vegetables, soups, desserts and salads. He/she apportions servings, cleans area and utensils and performs all related duties.

GENERAL DUTIES

  1. Handle and prepare food in accordance with state sanitary regulations for Residential Care facilities and established menu.
  2. Prepare food that is delicious, palatable and appetizing in appearance and taste.
  3. Ensure required portions of food for every resident.
  4. Be cognizant of and ensure meeting special dietary requirements of identified Residents.
  5. Serve meals on schedule.
  6. Avoid wastage.
  7. Provide necessary care of equipment.
  8. The job requires standing for extended periods of time, walking short distances most of the working day, stoop, reach, lift and carry food and kitchen equipment.
  9. Taste and smell food to determine quality and palatability. Have hand dexterity in food preparation.
  10. Willing to work for the best interests of the Residents. Able to work cooperatively with others. Considerable initiative and judgment needed for meal preparation and service, seasoning food, estimating food requirements, utilizing leftovers and presenting food in an attractive and palatable manner. Work under general supervision. Follow standardized recipes, but may make independent decisions relative to type of meal to be served and the method of preparation.
  11. Able to read, write, and speak English. Able to follow oral and written instructions. Must have training or equivalent experience in food preparation,
  12. Sanitation, hygiene, methods of cooking, purchasing, estimation of food requirements, storage of cooked and uncooked food and management of kitchen and storage room.
  13. Must be able to cook a wide variety of foods in large quantities and be familiar with seasonings required and cooking time required. Must have working knowledge of cooking characteristics of all cuts of meat. Must be familiar with names and contents of various types of dishes. Must be able to make simple estimates relative to quantities of food required. Need to be familiar with standardized cooking time and measurements and be able to follow standardized recipes. Must be familiar with operation of various pieces of kitchen equipment.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

RECEPTIONIST

The receptionist is responsible for fulfilling all the duties expected of a general office receptionist. This person will very definitely be a "people person" with a warm and outgoing personality who will get to know all the friends, family and people associated with the residents.

GENERAL DUTIES:

  1. Initial point of contact for all incoming calls and the further processing of these calls.
  2. Initial point of contact for all people coming into the facility and the redirecting of them.
  3. Initial point of contact for incoming mail and other deliveries and the further processing of these items.
  4. May write letters for Residents, run errands, may assist in appointments etc.
  5. May act as liaison with Residents' families.
  6. May assist with maintaining records of Resident activities and progress.
  7. Requisition and may purchase supplies, equipment and materials.
  8. Help maintain inventory records.
  9. Perform other duties as requested by the Administrator not listed above.
